What to do when you are on the short list?

Although this may be easier said than done as there is never a good time for Redundancy - try to prepare yourself if you find you are on the short list for redundancy by considering these options:

• Discuss things with your partner and friends - other people may have good ideas to contribute.
  
  
• List all options available to you - this could be an opportunity to change direction and get out of a rut.

• Establish company resources available to you and take full advantage of them - the company will often provide useful training and time off to search for jobs. The network of industry contacts the company has is just as important.
  
  
• Exploit your own network of contacts - a friend of a friend may just know of a position which is ideal for you.
  
  
• Review all your skills and interests - get an idea of what your ideal job is and go for it - maybe consider a psychometric test.
