Tax, JSA and Other Benefits Do I still pay tax when I apply for my JSAThe Jobseeker's Allowance personal allowance is taxable, if you have been in previous employment and have been paying tax. If you are a school leaver or a student you will not have paid any tax previously so will be taxed as a single person. What happens to my benefits when I find a job?You might have to give up some of your benefits if you find a job, but you could also get other kinds of support - such as Working Tax Credit. If you find a job and you're earning a low income, you might be able to get Working Tax Credit. You might also be able to get Child Tax Credit if you have children.
