ACAS publish a very clear and useful booklet called
REDUNDANCY HANDLING. It is of use to employers, employees and their
representatives.
It examines the steps that should be taken to minimize or avoid redundancy
and the anxiety and uncertainty it brings.
It suggests the careful planning of labour needs, creating an agreed
redundancy procedure (even if redundancies are not expected) and stresses
the importance of fair and consistent decision making if redundancy
becomes unavoidable.
